Cartiera del Maglio S.p.A, in conjunction with Assocarta (the Italian Association for the Paper, Cardboard and Pulp Industries), Aticelca (the Italian Technical Association for cellulose and paper), Assindustria Bologna and Comune di Sasso Marconi, has organised a competition for the International Study and Research Award in memory of the businessman Giovanni Barezzi. The award and 10,500 Euros will be given to the author(s) of the best project, thesis or study in one of the following fields: 'Cigarette Design, paper, production and packaging'. The Award is exclusively for subjects that are 'Not Tobacco Material'.
The purpose of the award, currently in its first year, is to increase interest in all the themes connected with the production of cigarette.
The aim of the competition is also to provide a unique source of information via a Documentation Centre that will, in turn, stimulate still further scientific and technological know-how in the sector.
The promoter of this initiative is Cartiera del Maglio, a medium-sized company specialising in the production of cigarette papers that are among the best in quality in the world. Highly modern and automated, the company has been providing high quality service since 1765.
Long experience, close attention to customer service, high-tech machinery and concern for human resources, constitute the core factors in the corporate philosophy of Cartiera del Maglio. The result is that the company is able to provide ongoing tangible improvements in terms of customer satisfaction and protection of the environment.
It is from this connection with the past and the passion for paper that the Giovanni Barezzi Award is born.
